DEFINITION : The hypertrophy of the labia minora is characterized by an accentuated asymmetry between the labia minora and the labia majora .
Hypertrophy is usually bilateral. It preseves the physiological asymmetry of the labia minora, the left being naturally more important than the right. It often occur in adolescance (juvenile primary hypertrophy), but it can occur after childbirth or after menopause.

AIMS : The surgery or nympho-plasty aims at reducing the size of the labia minora, correcting a possible major asymmetry.
It aims at obtaining a vulva in harmony with the size and volume of the labia minora compared to that of the labia majora .

PRINCIPLES :
The surgery consists in removing the excess skin on the small lips. The simplest technique consists in an on-demand resection tailored according to a pre-established scheme, the course of which follows the free edge of the labia minora.
The surgery consists in a simple resection with dissolvable sutures. Nymphoplasty can be performed as early as adulthood and has no age limit. The surgery does not have any negative impact on sexual intercourse or childbirth.

BEFORE THE OPERATION :

A preoperative check up is done as prescribed.

An anesthesiologist will see you in consultation before the operation.

It is highly recommended to give-up smoking.

No aspirin-based medication should be taken during the 10 days preceding the operation.

After the operation : The post-surgery

Bruises and swelling are usually observed.

There are rarely actual pain.

It is recommended to wear loose clothes.

It is recommended to wait for two or three weeks before having any sexual intercourse.

THE RESULT :

We can have a good idea of the final result a month after the surgery.

The vulva has a more hamonious shape. Scars ussually heal from 1 to 2 months.
